Eid Al Adha 2023: UAE announces official holiday dates
Wednesday, June 28, is the first day of Eid Al Adha in the UAE
The crescent moon of Dhu al-Hijjah was sighted on Sunday, confirming the holiday dates
The UAE Moon Sighting Committee confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon of Dhu al-Hijjah on Sunday, June 11, 2023. This means that Wednesday, June 28, is the first day of Eid Al Adha in the UAE. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) in the UAE has officially announced the Eid Al Adha holiday dates for federal ministries and entities.
Most Islamic nations will attempt to sight the crescent moon of Dhu Al Hijja on Sunday, June 18, 2023, which corresponds to the 29th of Dhu Al Qadah. If the crescent moon is not sighted on June 18, Eid Al Adha will begin on Monday, June 19.
Eid Al Adha is a four-day holiday in the UAE. It is a time for Muslims to celebrate the completion of the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. Muslims in the UAE and around the world typically celebrate Eid Al Adha by attending prayers, exchanging gifts, and feasting with family and friends.
